Classical Music Concert – Salesian Theatre, Sliema.

 

10th & 11th May

Earth Garden – The National Festival of Music, Art and Culture with the participation of various artists.    During this event an Open Village will be held, with the help of artists, transforming traditional Maltese customs and culture to art that promotes environmental awareness and a two-day music festival with special live performances – Greek Theatre, Ta’ Qali. 

 

13th May

Concert by Orkestra Nazzjonali with soloist Robert Plane playing Aaron Copland’s Clarinet Concerto in a concert dedicated to the music of the 10th century with works by Charles Ives, Igor Stravinsky and Dimitri Shostakovich – Teatru Manoel, Valletta.

 

16th May

Concerto lirico Pucciniano – organised by the Italian Embassy in collaboration with  Lucca Provence – Teatru Manoel, Valletta.

 

16th to 18th May

Ghanafest – (Folk Music Festival) - organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts – Argotti Gardens – 7.30 p.m.

 

23rd May

Flute and percussion recital – by the duo Giorgia Santoro and Vito De Lorenzi (Medievel Music from Europe to the Orient) – Bir Miftuh Festival - organised by the Italian Cultural Institute - Santa Maria Bir Miftuh Chapel, Gudja.

 

31st May

Movie Spectacular – A musical journey through the best blockbuster movies ever.  Concert by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Kevin Abela. Music from great movies like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, James Bond, Mask of Zorro and many others. 8:00pm at the Mediterranean Conference Centre.

Halbe Treppe – German Film Evening – German Maltese Circle, Valletta – 6.30 p.m.    Two pairs, each married for quite a long time, are living in a small East German town.   The film focuses on the relationships between each of the four people and what happens when an affair takes place between two of them who are not married to each other and logically betraying the two remaining characters
