How Does Capital 88.7 measure its audience?
Official studies are carried out by the Broadcasting Authority at different times during the year. Other private organisations also carry out their own audience studies. Here at Capital we also conduct our own studies to help in management decisions, particularly vis-à-vis our target audience. Survey results play a significant part in the sales and programming of any radio station. Commercial radio is a business and growth is generated by advertising. If a station is rating well, clients will more likely buy advertising space. Capital 88.7 is extremely proud of the fact that we have a huge amount of loyal listeners who seem to find it impossible to switch off!

Is it hard to get a job in radio?
Yes. Because there are only so many stations opportunities are highly sought after. Also it is important to understand that not everyone can do radio, and such jobs require training. While you are waiting for that lucky break there are several ways you can receive training, such as through the highly regarded 'Radiowise' course organised by Mediacoop. The Programme Controller is responsible for everything you hear on air. For instance the talk topics, the presenters, the sound of the news and what competitions/promotions the station is involved in.

Does Capital 88.7 offer work experience for students?
We get many requests from students asking about work experience possibilities. This always depends on the individual request, and other factors which have to be taken into consideration. Contact us to see what we can do. Whilst there might not be opportunities with Capital 88.7, Mediacoop might be able to offer you something. For instance, in the past Mediacoop has offered students work experience in the production of television shows.

Yes we do. Call us on (00356) 21233078. However we also advise that stolen property be reported to the police ASAP.

Why do you never seem to repeat the same song on the same day?
Almost every music-based station in the world has defined a target audience, and we are no different. Here at Capital 88.7 we emphasise retro hits particularly the 80s. Our studies have shown that our audience appreciates the fact that whilst we play the hits, we don't repeat them during the same day. We go to a lot of effort with our playlists, and welcome feedback on this.

Who are Mediacoop?
